OTHER FEES
All other charges in the Village will be determined on a usage basis. The main ones are as follows.
Telephone Usage
Usage of the telephone for phone calls outside of the University will be charged for. To activate the facility you will need to deposit an amount of money on your phone account. This account can be replenished online from the room or over the desk at the Village Reception. You can use any phone in the Village using your personal PIN number.
Calls are logged on a real time basis and you will be able to view your phone account from your room (if you have a computer) prior to making a call.
Printing and Copying
All residents have access to the Village Resource Centre. Whereas there is no charge to use the Village computers, a charge will be made for any printing or copying. As with your telephone account, assuming that your optional U CARD™ account is in credit you will be able to use this facility.
Contract termination fee
All residential agreements at the village are for 52 weeks and it is anticipated that it is every resident's intention to honour that agreement.
Events do occur resulting in residents wishing to vacate their rooms. The Village administration will help residents to find a person to take over their agreement, but until that is done the resident must continue paying weekly fees.
Providing this service comes at a cost and is disruptive to the village community. A contract termination fee is charged which is equivalent to 2 weeks rent plus weekly rate until room is re-let, if the termination is subsequent to taking up physical occupancy of a room, or is after 1st January. Residential agreement signed and subsequently terminated before the 1st January of the new year, upon agreement with the village administration incur a one week charge.
The contract termination fee does not apply to university undergraduates commencing their first year of study if termination is in January or February of their first year.
Room move fee
Charged upon room move mid contract. Subject to availability.

Charged upon departure to cover costs associated with sanitation and deep cleaning costs carried out.
